Structural & Piping Site Supervisor

STRUCTURAL & PIPING SITE SUPERVISOR - LNG  is required by Mentor IMC Group for assignment to our client's project site location in Indonesia.  Asian fabrication yard experience preferred.
The project is the world class Gorgon LNG development where the major module construction activities are to take place at awarded site locations.
 
Commercial terms and conditions of assignment will be provided to technically reviewed successful applicants in due course.
Durations of assignment will be long term i.e. typically 24 months extendable on a rotation of 8x2

POSITION SCOPE
 
Establish and implement the Gorgon PAR/PAU fabrication and schedule objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. To ensure that the Contractor's Piping Construction and Engineering, procedures and activities are prepared and conducted expediently, to an acceptable standard and in accordance with the Gorgon procedures. To keep close track of the Contractor's schedule and progress related to the Piping and Structural discipline and provide input and solutions to improvement. As a senior member of the site team, to foster and maintain the team approach and to take an active role in the health, safety and welfare of all.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • To lead the Piping discipline Fabrication effort for a given group of PAR/PAU
  • Take a leading role in the implementation of safety and IIF including conducting regular audits and providing reports to the Construction Manager and HSE Advisor
  • To ensure that the Contractor's Construction, Structural and Piping Engineering group is functioning effectively and efficiently, conduct regular audits of the processes and to take action to improve any deficiencies
  • To review/approve Structural and Piping related documents and procedures prepared by the Contractor and Gorgon site Construction and Engineering group
  • To establish and maintain a good working relationship with the Contractor's personnel and to provide positive input to methods and solutions for improvement
  • Participate in regular internal meetings with the group in order to maintain a common approach to the direction of the work and to advise strategies and directions to the team and to assist in keeping ahead of developing issues
  • Take part in regular, formal meetings with the Contractor at the direction of the Construction Manager
  • Take a leading role in the promotion of the Gorgon IIF initiative and implementation of actions to improve or enhance safety behaviour
  • To assure the Contractor has adequate systems in place to meet the Project and Quality objectives and to monitor and control all the fabrication and Constructi9on activities of the work
  • To assure that the Structural and Piping fabrication and Construction work is performed in a technically competent manner as per the drawings and specifications
  • To constantly check that work being performed is adhering to the Gorgon Technical, Safety, Governmental and Environmental Standards
  • To ensure that checks on the quality and accuracy of the Contractors' Piping craftsmen are carried out
  • To assist the various Vendor specialists in matters of work priority and requirements. It is the specialist's responsibility to know how to competently carry out the job
  • To assure that Change Control systems are operating effectively between the Contractor, BWI site organisation and the Gorgon Project Offices
  • To assure that the Contractor is not being delayed by vendor or Gorgon decisions. To take appropriate follow up action to minimise such delays
  • To assure that changes in weight, cost, scope, premises and any anticipated problems are reported to appropriate project people
  • To conduct daily liaison with Site Team and Contractor's Piping discipline and participate in Contractor's daily and weekly meeting to discuss problems and to provide solutions. Eg.
  • Vendor's progress, material expediting requirements, setting priorities by criticality
  • Ensure that resources match needs and to minimise delays and cost impacts
  • Job progress being delayed by actions required within the design contractor's office of Company's procurement group
  • Job planning by Contractor, establishing that the Contractor is planning ahead and allowing realistic lead times to prevent future problems delaying work
  • Identifying present and potential problems, discussing possible solutions, preparing plans of action, assigning responsibilities and defining action to be taken
  • To assure that the Contractor is maintaining and providing machinery and equipment in optimum conditions at all times
  • Report daily to the Construction Manager and keep him informed of all activities and status related to Construction and Engineering
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly reports to Project Management
 
Internal Interfaces - Interfaces with other Site team members
 
External Interfaces - Interfaces with Contractor, Module PAR team, Module transportation team, BWI Construction, and Dimensional Control Contractor
 
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Minimum 10 years relevant Structural and Piping experience in engineering and construction phases of major modular offshore development projects
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to communicate at all levels
  • Good organisational skills
  • Southeast Asia offshore fabrication yard experience
  • LNG project experience
  • Familiar with Australian code requirements
