SENIOR PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIST - CONFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT required by our client, an international oil and gas operator, to be based in Qatar.

POSITION SCOPE
Our Client is offering an experienced Production Technologist the opportunity to join the Petroleum Engineering department to develop conformance control solutions for extended reach horizontal wells. The successful candidate will be part of a small group of experienced Drilling and Petroleum Engineers responsible for developing enhanced capabilities in this area.
The Conformance Control team offers a strong technical as well as an innovative environment and provides an excellent opportunity to take part in and experience a stimulating and dynamic work environment where focus is oriented towards implementing and delivering a world class project and making the project a continued success.
Our Client's project comprises drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Project is approx. 300,000 barrels/day.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide Production Technology expertise in the continuing development of a number of proprietary methods to conduct surveillance in and shut off zones in extended reach horizontal wells.
- To provide project management expertise to ensure the various ongoing and new technology development projects are structured, tracked and reported both financially and technically,
- To write functional specifications for to be developed technology in cooperation with subsurface teams and other members of the conformance control team,
- To participate and / or lead design reviews with third parties, ensuring that planned technology developments fulfil functional specifications and are designed optimally,
- To prepare for and operationally support field testing of novel tools and methods for conformance control,
- To be an active team player, providing creative and innovative input into ongoing conformance technology screening studies. Mechanical as well as chemical methods are under consideration.
- To lead one or more projects with external service providers conducting applied research as well as development services in the area of conformance control technology.
- Training and coaching of less experienced staff.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- B.Sc. Engineering or higher degree.
- Minimum 12-15 years relevant experience in Production Technology with an Operator, preferably also in a role leading a multi-disciplinary team.
- An effective team player with strong theoretical and operational skills in production technology with an emphasis on well intervention technologies.
- Operational experience with well treatments (stimulation, shut-offs, scale squeezes, etc.).
- Experience with horizontal wells in carbonate reservoirs.
- Candidates with experience in new technology development including field implementation will be preferred.
- Experience in project management.
- Fluent in English - written and spoken.
